A New You
Whatever else you might change using any of the previous dream control techniques, one thing has always remained constant, you have always been yourself. One of the most interesting aspects of lucid dreaming is that it allows you the possibility to change that, you can become literally anything you can imagine.
Where else can you have the experience of towering over the landscape as a giant 100 feet tall, hunting on the plains of the Serengeti as a lion, or see the world from an ants points of view.
Form
Changing your own form is something so far beyond any experience we have in our waking lives, it can be difficult to make our subconscious mind accept this change.
Standard dream control techniques; using technology, magic or calling out your intention can all work here, but another good trick is to use the transformational power of mirrors. Imagine a hall of mirrors, where each distorts your form in new and different ways. Looking into the mirror may be enough, or sometimes you might need to step through the mirror for the change to take effect. Having an image of what each mirror does carved onto it, or as a picture hanging by it may help improve the effectiveness.
Perspectives
There is one thing which has been constant in all of the actions for all of the dream control methods up to now, you have always been you. OK, so you might have looked different when you got to changing your form, but essentially it was still your mind inside a different body. One of the most interesting possibilities of a lucid dream is that it is possible to have experiences from entirely different perspectives.
You may have already experienced some dreams where you don’t see things from your usual first person view, but rather are able to look down on your own dreamself and see the entire scene like you were watching a movie.
But what about other changes in perspective; Seeing through the mind not just the form of an animal, how about point of view of a tree? You could take on the role of formless, or fluid like life forms, merge together with another person, split yourself into two and see form two different perspectives simultaneously. All of these and more are possible, if not easy to pull off. We are so used to experiencing the world through our senses (mainly sight) that it is almost impossible to consciously imagine what having an entirely different sensory experience would be .
One powerful dream control technique that will let you move into these kinds of areas is meditation.
Meditation inside a lucid dream will take some practice to get right; maintaining a deeply relaxed state while still remaining lucid is a fine balancing act, but is well worth the effort. Aside from being an interesting experience in its own right, once you reach a deeply relaxed, focused, aware state you will find it easier to detach your conscious experience from the body of your dreamself and into some of these other forms.
